Our family lost a very special man, my father-in-law, Joseph Handelman. The month was April and it’s hard to believe the fall season is upon us. He was a big part of our lives and he was most proud of his grandchildren, love of photography and science. I like to think that I see him everyday in some small way. Most recently, his science magazine arrived , an issue he did not get to read. The magazine is now in our home and our youngest daughter will read this issue and future issues to come. They shared a common interest for the love of science. My father-in-law was able to enjoy the celebrations of life’s special moments and I take comfort in knowing he was here to witness what his grandchildren have accomplished. He played many roles to so many people, but the role that I will always cherish, is that of a grandparent. The photos he took of nature hang in our home; vibrant butterflies and birds, captured so perfectly. I am able to see in my three beautiful children’s eyes, the kindness and interest he took in the simple things. Here is a photo recently taken by our daughter while on her college campus. We will add this to the wall and be reminded daily of how this special man touched our lives.
